Into The Blue Confidence Camp
The Camp
Date: February 5th - 10th 2027
INTO THE BLUE Confidence Camp is a small, supportive open-water swim experience designed for swimmers and triathletes who feel anxious or unsettled beyond the pool.
Set in the protected, clear waters of Playa Blanca in Lanzarote, the camp focuses on helping you understand your body’s response to open water and gently build confidence at your own pace. Through a combination of professional swim coaching and fear-aware guidance, you’ll learn practical tools to calm your breathing, manage overwhelm, and feel more in control in deeper water.
Over six days, we focus on steady progress rather than performance — creating a safe environment where you can explore open water without pressure or expectation. With small group numbers, water safety support, sheltered swim locations, and a supportive coaching approach, the aim is not just to help you swim further, but to help you feel calmer, more capable, and more connected to the experience.
Between swims, Playa Blanca offers a relaxed setting with beautiful coastal walks, cafés, and places to unwind, giving you space to rest and fully absorb the journey.
Who this camp is for
INTO THE BLUE is a confidence-focused open-water swim camp. Participants should already feel comfortable swimming and able to swim continuously in the pool.
This is not a learn-to-swim programme — instead, we focus on helping existing swimmers build calm, confidence, and control in open water.
The Location
The swim camp is based in Playa Blanca, offering favourable conditions, sheltered bays, and a calm environment designed to support confidence and progression.
The area provides a wide range of accommodation options, from comfortable self-catering stays to stylish hotels, along with plenty of cafés, restaurants, and local shops.
The main swim sessions will take place at Playa Flamingo, a sheltered beach on the west side of Playa Blanca. Its protected bay and typically calm waters create an ideal setting for building confidence, refining technique, and progressing safely in open water.
Between swims, you’ll find beautiful coastal paths, scenic walks, and peaceful places to explore — creating space to rest, reset, and fully enjoy the experience both in and out of the water.
Sea temperatures are typically around 18–19°C, and while the days are usually warm and sunny, an extra layer is recommended for cooler evenings.
All swim sessions are weather-dependent, and locations may be adjusted to ensure the safest and most supportive conditions for the group.
The Programme
Date: February 5th - 10th 2027
Day 1 - Safety & Connection
Morning: Coffee & Chat
A relaxed welcome session to meet the coaches and your fellow swimmers. We’ll talk through past experiences, personal goals, and what you hope to gain from the week, creating a supportive foundation from the very start.
Location: Camp HQ (villa)
Afternoon: First Supported Swim (Up to 60 mins)
A gentle, no-pressure swim in a sheltered bay where we begin to understand your comfort level in open water. This is not a test — simply a chance to settle into the environment while we observe how you move and feel in the water. Participation is always choice-based, with full coach and safety support present.
Location: Playa Flamingo Beach
Day 2 - Calm, Play & Control
Morning: Reconnecting with Ease in the Water
Many adult swimmers never had the chance to feel playful or relaxed in open water. In this session we explore floating, balance, and gentle movement to help calm the nervous system. We also introduce relaxed sighting techniques that keep your breathing steady.
Location: Playa Flamingo Beach
Afternoon: Talk with Claire: “Strong, Scared, and Still Going”
An open and honest conversation about real experiences of anxiety in the water, followed by a supportive Q&A.
Location: Camp HQ
Late afternoon: 60 minute group swim
Location: TBC
Day 3 - Understanding Breath & Panic
Morning: Breathing & Reset Techniques
We focus on breathing strategies that help regulate your response to open water. You’ll learn practical tools for moments when anxiety rises — including stop-float-breathe resets and techniques you can use during races or deeper swims.
Location: Playa Flamingo Beach
Afternoon — Talk with Coach JC: “From sprint distance triathlon to the English Channel”
A chance to hear the journey from short-distance racing to long-distance open water, followed by questions and discussion.
Location: Camp HQ (villa)
Late afternoon: 60 minute group swim
Location: TBC
Day 4 - Tools, Integration & Optional Analysis
Morning: Applying Skills Under Movement
We begin to integrate breathing, floating, and calm sighting while swimming gently. The focus is on feeling steady while moving, rather than pushing distance or pace.
If you have chosen swim stroke filming, this will take place late morning.
Location: Playa Flamingo Beach
Afternoon: Rest, Explore & Optional Video Analysis
Free time to relax, explore Playa Blanca, or join your personalised swim video analysis session at Camp HQ if booked.
Evening: Optional Supported Night Swim
A calm, fully supported low-light swim designed to gently build confidence as conditions change. Participation is completely optional and guided at your pace.
Location: TBC
Day 5 - Real-World Skills & Changing Conditions
Morning: Race-Day Confidence Skills
We explore scenarios that can heighten anxiety during races or longer swims — including deep-water starts, group awareness, and maintaining calm rhythm. Skills are practised gradually in deeper water with full support.
Location: TBC
Afternoon: Exploring New Conditions
A short walk takes us to another beach where we experience slightly choppier water in a controlled setting. You’ll learn practical strategies to stay calm, balanced, and confident as conditions change.
Location: Playa Flamingo Beach
Day 6 - Your Goals, Your Swim
Morning: Personal Goal Swim
Today is about the intentions you set on Day 1. Whether it’s swimming out of your depth, reaching a landmark, or completing a time-based sea swim, we support you in achieving your own version of success — always at your pace.
Location: TBC
Afternoon: Final Debrief & Take-Home Plan
We reflect on your journey, discuss what you’ve learned, and create a clear plan for continuing your open water confidence after the camp. You’ll leave with safe practice guidelines and tools to support your next steps.
Location: Camp HQ (villa)
